My garage door is set a bit asymmetric...it's more to the left in the building, with about 2 feet of space on the right from the door edge to the wall. This give you storage for things like lawn mowers and various tools. But it requires some extra wood reinforcing to mount the right door spring. Turns out that the angle iron that the right spring was attached to had pulled the wood it was attached to out of vertical, and a support piece near the wall was pulling away from it's attachment. So we got a number of very large bolts, nuts, washers and lock washers and drilled holes for them. Then I tightened these reinforcements into place just to be safe.
Sad thinning gray hair. Sigh!
The original timbers were nailed, and the nails were pulling loose. These bolts absolutely would not be pulling loose!

But I didn't like these as they seemed to distort the spring over time. I much preferred using heavy threaded J-hooks:
